Opening Deep Practice to the Next Generation

Winter Intensive at Zen Mountain Monastery

Thursday, January 9th 3:00pm - Sunday, January 12, 2020 2:00pm

We are fortunate to be partnering with Zen Mountain Monastery in Woodstock, NY for a 4-day meditation retreat geared towards college-aged people. Miles Bukiet will be leading us in both silent and interpersonal meditation. Winter in the Catskills is wonderfully conducive to concentration, equanimity, and is a hygge experience for many.

This event will be more intensive than our previous events. It is meant to be challenging for beginners and offer a taste of the kind of retreat that is traditional to Zen practice. People for thousands of years have found that from intensity can emerge an experience of lightness and letting go. If you are a beginning meditator who is drawn to explore these sorts of edges for yourself, this is the event for you. If you are an intermediate meditator or have already experienced intensive retreat in another setting, this will be an opportunity to deepen that practice as well as dive deep into interpersonal meditation and meet like-minded others.

The retreat will begin with check-in from 3:00pm-5:00pm on Wednesday, January 8th, 2020 and end after an informal lunch on Sunday, January 12th, 2020 around 2:00pm. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to team@dharma-gates.org.

The retreat will cost $200 with generous financial aid available on request. This retreat is suitable for beginners but will be challenging.
